Sun Safety

Although lazy summer days are nearly past and we are heading toward fall it doesn’t mean the need for sun protection has gone away! It is important to remember that sunburn can happen on an overcast day because a sunburn is the result from UV rays, not the heat. Sunscreen should be applied before going outside and reapplied throughout the day. Be on the lookout for clothing that has been rated with an ultraviolet protection factor, and remember that dry clothes protect better than wet garments. Consider wearing a hat with a wide brim in order to protect the sensitive skin on the back of the neck and ears because sometimes a baseball cap just doesn’t cut it!
